The leadership of the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), has reaffirmed its resolve to actively participate and mobilise Igbo to vote in the forthcoming elections.
The group said it would unveil its choice presidential and National Assembly candidates on Thursday, to enable its members, all over the country, cast their votes for the candidates.
This was contained in a statement endorsed by its leader, Uchenna Madu, and the National Director of Information, Samuel Edeson, which was issued to newsmen, yesterday, in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital.
The group said the resolution was reached at its National Executive Council meeting attended by all the state, zonal, local government area coordinators and national directors, which was held at its headquarters in Awgu, Enugu State.
MASSOB, in the wisdom of internationally recognised freedom of political participation, declares that this years elections in Nigeria will not be stopped or boycotted in Biafra land.
Our people who still believe in the Nigeria project are free to participate in the electoral processes, including this years, as we have allowed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct elections in Biafra land.
That having also realised the importance of political and economical powers, and their usefulness for the actualisation and restoration of Biafra, MASSOB declares that Ndigbo will massively participate in Saturdays presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday to elect credible, selfless and progressive persons for another political dimension of Biafra emancipation struggle.
After our thoroughly and holistic examination of all candidates for senatorial and House of Representatives in Igbo land, including the presidential candidates, MASSOB will, on Thursday, release the names of the chosen candidates who Ndigbo will vote for on Saturday, for the progressiveness of Igbo land.
Nigerias elections will come and go, irrespective of whoever wins in both national and state elections, the group said. That we must continue with Biafra project of actualisation, irrespective of both internal and external distractions, the statement said.
